At a glance
Shoprider Explorer 888SLN
The all rounder. Suspension on all four corners, up to 40 km on a charge, and a turning radius that still works inside a shop.
How it rides
Suspension on all four corners.
Broken sidewalk is what makes a long ride tiring, because every jolt travels up the frame and into your back. This one is sprung at all four corners, on 10 in wheels that meet the bump before the spring does.
- ✓Full suspension, front and rearSprung at every corner, with anchor hooks built into the frame.
- ✓Four 10 in wheelsBig enough that nothing drops into a seam in the pavement.
- ✓A delta tillerWorked with an open hand rather than a grip, which suits sore wrists.

The front end. A sprung front on 10 in wheels, with the lights and both mirrors fitted at the factory.
One charge
Up to 40 km on a full charge.
That is the maximum, on new batteries charged full. What you really get moves with the weight on board, the ground under you and the temperature, so plan a long day around a little less.
Two 50 Ah batteries do that work, which is a full day of outings on one charge. They fill from a normal wall socket. Top speed is 8 km/h, about the pace of the people walking beside you.
Room and doorways
22.5 in across, turning radius 58 in.
Two numbers decide whether a scooter comes inside with you or waits at the door. One is how wide it is. The other is how tightly it turns.
- ✓22.5 in across the bodyComfortably under the 32 in doorway most Canadian homes are built to.
- ✓Turning radius 58 inGrocery aisles, pharmacy counters and clinic corridors are all wider than the arc it needs.
- ✓47.5 in long, 42 in tallLow enough to park under a carport roof.
- ✓218 lb with the batteries inIt does not come apart, so it is not a scooter that goes in a car. It lives where you live.
- ✓It arrives builtWe deliver it on its wheels, so nothing is assembled or lifted at your end.

The back end. The rear wheels and the battery access panel.
Built to fit
The basket made for this model, and three more that suit it.
The front basket is built by its maker for this model alone. The windscreen is moulded for a full delta tiller. The last two bolt to the seat plate.
Heavy metal and front mounted, so the groceries stay in front of you and in view.
It sends the wind up and over your hands and chest instead of into them.
Height adjustable and water resistant. Sun off you in July, drizzle off you in October.
The version that needs no canopy above it. Folds flat when you are not carrying anything.
