What carbon fiber actually changes

Carbon fiber is very stiff for its weight, so the frame can be slim and still feel solid under you. Three things you notice day to day: it is quieter than aluminium on hard floors, it does not flex when you lean on the handles, and the wheels are puncture proof so there is nothing to pump up. The brake cables run inside the frame, so there is no loop of cable to catch on a door handle.

Is the Carbon Ultralight right for you?

Best for: anyone who lifts their rollator often. If you travel, take transit, or load the car every day, this is the one.

The Wide frame is 10.8 lb. Here is the honest trade. Carbon saves you about 4 lb against a good aluminium rollator, and more than 8 lb against a large-wheel one, and you pay for that. If you rarely lift your walker, a heavier aluminium frame will serve you just as well for less money.

Stand tall with your arms loose at your sides. The grips should come up level with the crease of your wrist. Set too low you will stoop, set too high your shoulders will ache. All three sizes adjust to almost the same heights, so this chart is simply to confirm the handles reach you. Width is what picks your size, and that comes next.

Choosing your width

All three sizes go through a normal doorway. Pick on the seat.

A standard interior door in a Canadian home gives you about 28.5 in of clear opening, so the question that actually matters is the seat. Compact and Regular are genuinely narrow seats. The Wide is the one closest to what people are used to sitting on.

Two to know about. On a Compact frame the Weekend Bag mounts at the back rather than the front. The Pocket Bag fits the Wide frame and the Carbon Overland only, not Compact or Regular.

Made for the Overland instead. The Overland Travel Bag and the Mini Pump are for the Carbon Overland. The Ultralight runs puncture proof wheels, so there is nothing on it to pump up.
