Christmas Gift Ideas for Older Parents in Canada (2026)
The short answer: The Christmas gifts older parents use most are the ones that make an everyday job easier. Good choices include a light rollator such as the 10.6 lb byACRE Carbon Ultralight, a lift chair with built in heat such as the Golden Rhea, a scooter or power chair that folds for the car, a swivel seat for the tub, or a small accessory for equipment they already own, like a cup holder or a bag. Below are 22 ideas we carry, grouped by where they will be used, with the maker's own figures and an estimated Christmas order by date for each. Most need ordering by Thursday, December 10 (estimated).
Finding a gift for a parent who says they need nothing is one of the harder jobs on the Christmas list. The presents that get used every day tend to be the practical ones: a rollator light enough to lift into the car, a chair that helps them stand up and keeps them warm, a scooter that folds into the trunk for a visit to the grandchildren. Every product below is one Care Made carries, and every figure comes from the manufacturer. Each pick is marked as a big gift, a small gift or a stocking stuffer, along with its estimated Christmas order by date. The big ones are the kind a family often goes in on together.

Three checks before you buy
- Plan it with them. A rollator, scooter or lift chair is a personal choice. Many families plan a big gift together with their parent, or wrap a photo and choose the model together after Christmas.
- Measure first. byACRE's rule for a rollator is that the handles should sit level with the wrists when standing upright. A lift chair needs room behind it to recline: the Golden Elara needs 19 inches from the wall. A scooter or power chair has to fit the trunk it will ride in.
- Note the model they own. Cup holders, bags and phone mounts fit certain models, so check the make and model before buying an accessory.

For walks and errands: a lighter rollator
A rollator with a seat means there is always somewhere to sit down, on a long walk or in a long lineup. The lighter the frame, the easier it is to lift into the car.
byACRE Carbon Ultralight
byACRE calls it the world's lightest rollator. Built on a carbon fibre frame, the whole rollator weighs 10.6 lb, or 10.8 lb in the Wide size. It folds flat to 9.8 inches wide and arrives fully assembled, so it is ready to go as soon as it is unwrapped. It comes in three sizes and eight colours and carries up to 285 lb. Our Carbon Ultralight review explains how to choose the size.
Drive Medical AeroCarbon Ultra-Lite
Another carbon fibre rollator, at 11.5 lb, with a higher weight limit of 330 lb. A simple fold lets it tuck into a closet or a car trunk.
Evolution Trillium
Evolution says the 14 lb Trillium is the easiest of its rollators to lift, fold and travel with. The seat has a 1.5 inch quilted cushion and an extra wide backrest, made for real sitting, and the frame folds with one hand. It is rated to 300 lb, or 350 lb in the Tall size.
Drive Medical Nitro Sprint
Folds side to side with one hand and stays locked for the car. Large 10 inch front wheels give a comfortable roll, and a built in mount takes Drive's cup, cane or phone holder. It is rated to 350 lb.
For their favourite chair: a lift chair
A lift chair reclines like any recliner, and at the press of a button it rises and tilts forward to help them stand up. Many now add warmth, a power headrest and a place to charge a phone.
Golden Rhea PL442
Golden's HeatWave warmth comes standard and runs from the shoulders down to the feet. Golden's four zone comfort system includes an adjustable headrest and lumbar support. There is a USB charging port in the left arm and a backup battery.
Golden Elara PL118MSM
A simpler three position lift chair with a USB port right on the hand control, so a phone can charge within reach. It has a backup battery, is rated to 400 lb and needs 19 inches from the wall to recline.
Pride VivaLift! Radiance PLR-3955
Three heat pads warm the shoulders, the lower back and the seat. A power headrest lifts to support the head, neck and shoulders, and the remote stores two favourite positions and has a USB charger. It is rated to 400 lb.
For Christmas, order Golden lift chairs by Friday, December 4 (estimated). See delivery and returns below.
For outings and trips: a folding scooter or power chair
A scooter or power chair that folds or comes apart can ride along in the trunk for a visit, a day out or a holiday. A scooter steers with handlebars on a column called the tiller. A power chair drives with a joystick.
Golden Buzzaround CarryOn
Comes apart into two pieces for the trunk, and the heaviest weighs 47.5 lb without the seat and batteries. It comes with a 12.5 Ah lithium battery plus a spare 6.5 Ah battery. Golden's range figures work out to about 23 km on the main battery and about 35 km with both, and Golden describes the scooter as airline approved.
Travel Buggy HELIX
Folds completely flat in seconds with nothing to take apart, then stands upright on its own for storage. Two batteries come standard for up to 20 km, and it was designed in Canada.
Pride Go-Go Super Portable
Weighs 41.6 lb without the battery and folds down to 12 inches deep without taking off the seat. A handle lets you tow it.
Travel Buggy AEROLUX 2C
A 100% carbon fibre power chair that Travel Buggy says weighs 33 lb while carrying up to 350 lb. It folds to just 12 inches wide and goes up to 20 km on one battery, with a bay for a second.
WHILL Model F
Folds in less than three seconds to 18.3 inches long and drives up to 20 km on a charge. The chair weighs 52.9 lb without its battery, and WHILL says the battery is approved for airline travel.
Each airline sets its own rules for mobility batteries, so check with the airline before booking a trip.
For the bathroom: small changes that help every day
Not every gift goes under the tree. If getting in and out of the tub has become awkward, these three are simple to set up and need no tools. Bathroom safety equipment is final sale, so measure the tub before you order.
MOBB Swivel Shower Chair 3.0
The seat swivels a full 360 degrees and locks every quarter turn. It is made of rustproof aluminum, goes together without tools and is rated to 300 lb.
Drive Medical Transfer Tub Bench
Sits across the side of the tub and sets up for either side. It goes together without tools, it adjusts in height from 17.5 to 22.5 inches, and it is rated to 400 lb.
AquaSense Steel Bath Safety Rail
Clamps onto tub walls 3 to 7 inches wide without tools and gives a solid handhold. It is made of rust resistant steel, adjusts in height with a push pin and is rated to 300 lb.
For the bedroom: a bed that rises
Harmony Hi-Low Adjustable Bed
The whole bed rises 11 inches. It adds dual zone massage, a wireless remote with a built in flashlight and LED lights under the bed, and Harmony designed it to look like a regular bedroom bed. The base lifts up to 880 lb and comes in Twin XL, Full, Full XL, Queen and Split King. The mattress is sold separately.
Small gifts and stocking stuffers
For a parent who already has a rollator, scooter or power chair, an accessory that fits it is an easy win. Each one below says what it fits.
byACRE Grocery Bag
Holds 15 litres and up to 11 lb, and its open and close system lets shopping go straight into the bag. It folds away when it is not in use.
byACRE Cup Holder
Holds drinks up to 16 fl oz, about 470 mL. It screws on below the handle with byACRE's care guide tool or a Torx T25 screwdriver, and lifts off to carry along.
Nitro Sprint Cup Holder
Holds cups, water bottles and travel mugs within arm's reach, on the Nitro Sprint's built in accessory mount.
Golden Cell Phone Holder
Clamps to the tiller, and a spring loaded grip holds most large phones.
Golden Armrest Bag
Golden says it fits the armrest of any scooter or power wheelchair. It has two zippered pockets on either side for things you use often, and it attaches with Velcro straps.
Travel Buggy Multi-Pocket Organizer
Two large zippered pouches and three open pockets hold pens, glasses and a phone. It fastens to the armrest with Velcro.

Is a rollator a good Christmas gift?

How light are these rollators?
The byACRE Carbon Ultralight weighs 10.6 lb, or 10.8 lb in the Wide size, and byACRE calls it the world's lightest rollator. The Drive Medical AeroCarbon weighs 11.5 lb and carries more, up to 330 lb against 285 lb for the byACRE. The Evolution Trillium weighs 14 lb.
Can a travel scooter or power chair go on a plane?
Golden describes the Buzzaround CarryOn as airline approved, and WHILL says the Model F battery is approved for airline travel. Each airline sets its own rules for mobility batteries, so check with the airline before you book.
