Drive Elevate Upright Walker
An upright walker. Padded armrests instead of hand grips, so you walk with your head up and your back straight.
Why this one is different
Your forearms take the load, not your wrists.
On an ordinary rollator you lean forward onto two hand grips and your shoulders roll in. The Elevate puts a padded armrest under each forearm and stands the handles up in front of you, so your back stays long and your eyes stay level with the room.
- ✓Padded armrests, upright handlesDrive's own words: padded armrests and upright handle adjust to 44 in
- ✓Handles extend 4 to 6 inA second adjustment, separate from the armrest height
- ✓Height adjustable backrestSet behind you once and it stays where you put it
- ✓Loop lock brakesDrive's own words: loop lock brakes for added safety and control

The armrest and the upright handle. Your weight travels through the forearm pad, which is the reason your wrists are not carrying it.
Read this before you pick
Blue and grey are not the same machine.
Drive prints one line under this walker that is easy to miss, and it decides which colour you want. Sit to stand assist handles are currently on the blue model only.
iSo the choice is a simple one. If you want the sit to stand assist handles, order the blue. If you do not use them, the grey is the same walker in every published measurement, right down to the 24.8 lb and the 18 in seat.
Somewhere to stop
A padded seat 18 in across, 21 in off the floor.
Seat width is what decides whether a rest is a rest or a perch. Drive gives this one 18 in across and sets it 21 in off the floor, which is a high seat to rise from rather than a low one to climb out of.
- ✓18 in acrossSeat width for the Elevate
- ✓10 in front to backSeat depth
- ✓21 in off the floorSeat to floor height, so you rise off it instead of pushing up out of it
- ✓Removable zippered bag with a shoulder strapDrive ships it on the walker, and it lifts off to carry

The seat, in use. The backrest behind it adjusts for height, so it lands where your back actually is.
What you actually lift
24.8 lb, and here is what that feels like.
Weight decides whether a walker comes with you or stays by the door. Every figure here is the manufacturer's published weight for a walker we actually stock.
- 8 lbMD by Drive Air-Go, two wheel
- 14.8 lbDrive AeroWalk Ultra-Lite, aluminium
- 20 lbMOBB Aluminum Folding Rollator
- 24.8 lbDrive Elevate Upright WalkerThis walker
iThe honest trade. 24.8 lb is the heaviest walker on this list, and Drive rates the frame to 300 lb rather than the 400 or 450 lb of a bariatric model. Both numbers are the price of a frame tall enough to hold your forearms at 44 in. What softens the weight is that you roll this walker far more than you lift it, on 10 in front wheels, and when it does have to go in a car it folds side to side with one hand.
Setting it up
Two adjustments, set in this order.
The Elevate is set at your elbows, not at your wrists. Stand tall, let your shoulders drop, and set the armrests so your forearms rest level with your elbows close to a right angle.
- ✓Armrest height, 39 to 44 inThe main adjustment, and a 5 in window to work in
- ✓Handle extension, 4 to 6 inBrings the upright handles nearer or further once the armrests are set
iSet the armrests first. Get your forearms level with your elbows close to a right angle, then use the 4 to 6 in handle extension to bring the grips to where your hands naturally fall. Two adjustments, done in that order, and the walker is fitted to you.
